Turtle Hooks

I got a case of L-U-V, you see, I'm like... O-M-G!

!!!FANART!!!

'Cause I'm also a fan.
A quick Cintiq doodle of me in Fish Hooks style I did a while back. I'm only just starting to use Cintiqs so this was fun.

Rubber Hose Redemption

Doodled this John Marston up at work a couple months ago when I first started playing Red Dead Redemption. I've really been into rubber hose stuff this year too, and just rolled with it.

A return and the Fine Tooning Cover

Long time no update. My laptop at home was, until recently, completely fried. Now it's only somewhat fried. So I couldn't update art here or anywhere for quite a while. In my absence however I landed my first animation gig (in late May). I've been animating on the new Disney XD show Fish Hooks, which premiered recently. I'll gush more on that later perhaps (because I love the show), but for now I have to play catch up with the blogspot;

This was what we submitted as the cover for Fine Tooning 2010, the book Algonquin's animation program produces each year showcasing graduate work. I was lucky enough to have my idea chosen for the cover, and I worked on it with Carlo Nicoletta, Dan Tozek, and David Noel from my graduating class.

[[I handled the concept & coordination, the 2D characters on the right (except the bird), the BG and Character colouring (AKA "paint", effects.]]

The idea was sort of simple; An allusion to a couple famous wartime photos with classic animation archetype characters. I've always been into war photos and art.

After much toil and drama, the actual version they printed on the cover was edited by the coordinators to add a sepia colour wash and some other slight adjustments to appease the powers that be. But this is the version we submitted (and to be fair, this version was more popular among students anyway). I was going to post the original sketch as well but I'm pressed for time and you can actually see it in a previous update anyway.

More backdated stuff to come (possibly including my actual pages from Fine Tooning, though I dislike them), and then a bunch weiiirrrd doodle newness.

April 2010 Demo Reel

Like almost everyone else from my class right now, I'm throwing up my first demo reel to the blog. Feelin' a bit grown up.

Some BGs from muh film

Title says it all. These are smaller and some are slightly different than what's actually in the film, all are watermarked just in case.

Jesse Quick

Always such a fast girl, always such-a-fast-girl. Are you this involved in everything? Are you this involved with everything?

I just don't really see much fanart of her, but I like the character. Add to that I wanted to draw an established superheroine in a style completely different from comics.

It's a Collymore on a Plastic Beach

I'm damn sure they don't know me, but I come in peace.

It's becoming a thing where whenever Gorillaz release a new studio album, I try to draw myself in Jamie Hewlett's style. I love his stuff with the band and Tank Girl and I have a hard time getting around his style.

I remember I was in my first year, second semester of college when Demon Days came out and I tried on the style. Now I'm my last year, second semester and it seems I haven't moved, hah. This one didn't work out as a pure style get, there's a lot of my own ways in there, but I still like it enough. I would probably go and do the lines up right and vector to the style but I really don't have that kind of time right now.

Sandcastles in the sand

I've been tight around my blog since I started hedway on my film, which is why I haven't posted much. But I need to get back to regular posting. I changed the look of the blog a TINY bit, and I've got stuff to upload. But for now..

Just a sketch of the main character from my film and Rosie, a character from my friends Cassie and James' film. It's rare that I draw a couple characters from two different styles simultaneously, it was interesting. I only decided I want to name the boy in my film, so I'm still working on a name.
